Calculating Binary Code

Conversion Table

8 bits = 1 byte

1024 bytes = 1 kilobyte

1024 kilobyte = 1 megabyte

1024 megabyte = 1 gigabyte

1024 gigabyte = 1 terabyte

1024 terabyte = 1 petabyte

The 2 base system consists of numbers 1 and 0. You can caluclate it simply by using the method below

128     64      32       16         8         4          2          1

How ever many “bits” are in your word size you can tick them off in sequential order. For example say you have “10011” it would be 16+0+0+2+1 which would be 19 in Base 10. And this is how you translate a base 2 number to a base 10 number.

16     8     4      2     1

1       0     0      1     1

To do the exact opposite you do exactly that. Take the number y0u have, say its the number “9”. You would not use “16” because that’s too large, you would take the “8”, and the “1” and would end up like this:

“1001”

8     4     2     1

1     0     0     1

8+1 = 9

That wraps up binary code 101
